Cafeteria Cashier

POSITION SUMMARY: Cafeteria cashier operates cash register in Cafeteria. Follows standards and procedures in receiving payments, recording changes and balancing cash. Processes reports of daily transactions. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 1. Computes total bill to be collected from customer. 2. Receives payment in full and issues correct change. 3. Computes special charges on credit slips and posts on individual accounts. 4. Totals money received and reconciles with cash on hand. 5. Prepares daily reports of money received. 6. Maintains appropriate and proper attitude with customers at all times with a smile. 7. Checks cash registers and work areas to maintain sanitation and safety standards. 8. Prepares cafeteria menu boards for following day by following established guidelines. 9. Demonstrates professionalism, communication, and compassion with regard for human dignity. 10. Maintains the highest standards of conduct in hospitality, excellence, appearance, attitude, respect and teamwork. 11. Uses best judgment in all interactions with customers which includes patients, families, coworkers, Medical Staff, community members and all other persons. 12. Demonstrates responsibility in maintaining confidentiality of hospital information and data within the scope of the position. 13. Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES 1. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows all safety practices, standard precautions, principles of electrical, fire and life safety procedures. 2. Demonstrates initiative and self-improvement in job knowledge and skills. 3. Participates in department quality improvement activities . 4. Demonstrates compliance with Hospital policies and procedures. 5. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS 1. Knowledge of basic arithmetic and money transactions. 2. Ability to operate electronic cash register and perform related record keeping duties. 3. Ability to work with calmness and effectively with the public and hospital personnel. 4. Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions. 5. Knowledge of commercial kitchen safety, sanitation and hygiene practices. 6. Strong interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude and a sense of commitment to our patients work associates and community. PREFERRED POSITION REQUIREMENTS 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Clerical training or comparable training and experience which provides skills to perform the job tasks competently.
