JOB PURPOSE

The Activities Coordinator has a written, planned schedule of social and other purposeful independent or group activities to meet the needs of the patients and residents. The program shall be designed to make life more meaningful, to stimulate and support physical and mental capabilities to the fullest extent, to enable the patient to maintain the highest attainable social, physical and emotional functioning, but not necessarily to correct or remedy a disability.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Preferred: BA degree/certificate in related field or comparable training and experience which provides skills to perform the job tasks competently. Completion of the 36 Hour Activity Leader course as outlined by the California State Department of Health.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum: First Aid certificate

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques and how to transfer from chair to wheelchair. 

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum: 6 months of experience in providing planned activities. 

Preferred: 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, one year of which was full-time in a patient activity program in a health care setting.
